News Values

Timeliness: http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2015/02/24/world/middleeast/24reuters-mideast-crisis-syria-un.html?ref=world&_r=0 ("Rights Group Calls for U.N Arms Embargo on Syria Over Barrel Bombs")
The article expresses an extremely new story considering this was posted 15 minutes ago. The event lasted years up to January 15, 2015.

Proximityhttp://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/21/world/americas/canada-attack-suspect-is-now-charged-in-3-killings.html?ref=americas ("Canada Attack Suspect is now charged with 3 killings")
The article revolves around a Canadian event. The paper was published in New York a little distance away.

Prominencehttp://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/25/world/middleeast/monitoring-group-says-isis-has-abducted-90-christians-in-syria.html?ref=world ("Monitoring Group ISIS has abducted 90 Christians in Syria")
This is the most important in my opinion because it's the spark of a genocide on religion. There is death the top of the hate pyramid which is involving multiple countries.

Impact: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/25/world/americas/as-cuba-shifts-toward-capitalism-inequality-grows-more-visible.html?ref=americas (" As Cuba Shifts towards Capitalism, inequality grows more visible")
This effects Cubans who grow more aware of the situation in their government. The article uses persuasion while also informing about the inequality for Cubans in there drastic change.

Conflict:  http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/24/world/asia/refugees-are-pushed-to-exits-in-pakistan.html?ref=world ("Refugees are pushed to exits in Pakistan")
The conflict is afghanistan innocents against terrorists. Also against the government forcing them to leave even if it's for their own safety.

Human Conflict:  http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/24/world/africa/as-tourism-sags-on-kenyan-coast-terrorists-could-lure-the-unemployed.html?ref=world (" A Catch 22 in Kenya; Western Terrorism…")
This effects people emotion because terrorism is a sensitive subject and can be incredibly dangerous or fatal.

Novelty: http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2015/02/24/world/europe/ap-eu-germany-measles.html?ref=world (" Toddler dies of measles in Berlin")
This interests me because i believed measles were eradicated or unlikey to get. Also, this could possibly spread and become something much bigger and effect more people. I like to learn about diseases and biology.
